My experience at the Hotel Promissi Sposi was simply fantastic. Let’s start with the location. The hotel is within 15-20 mins walk from Lecco and 25 mins from Lecco’s train station. If you don’t want to walk, reception at the hotel can get you a taxi that always arrived between 4-8 minutes to pick you up. The walk to Lecco feels safe and with lovely views, even at night. Lecco is not a well known tourist destination and that’s why I loved it! A walkable small city with a very attractive promenade by the lake. Plenty of affordable shopping around though many high end items abound. Worth spending one full day walking, shopping, eating, and just talking with local people. Regarding reception, after traveling for 12 hours, being welcome by Yira, with her big smile, and then talking to us in Spanish was priceless. All the staff at the front desk was really very friendly, professional, and helpful. Only one hiccup that I will address later. The rooms are comfortable and with fairly reasonable space by European standards. The Superior Terrace Room offered unobstructed view to the lake and a big terrace where you can walk and get some fresh air. The rooms at the corner have lake view. The rest on that row, have the building of the hotel in front of them and you have to go out to the terrace to see the lake. The greenery at the terrace makes you feel in contact with the nature immediately. The breakfast was good and varied. Well worth it. Monica, and the rest of the attendants during breakfast were wonderful. Monica was particularly friendly and shows what an excellent hostess should be. Thank you Monica! We didn’t eat at Lisander but we did at the other informal restaurant. Food was very good, reasonable prices, and again, friendly service, in the morning and in the evening. Bistrot Da Giovannino in front of the hotel, has a great menu, fairly reasonable prices, and outstanding service. The costoletta di vitello was the best I’ve ever had. I imagine that watching the sunset during summer might be magical. We didn’t use the spa or the gym so no opinion here.The view from the terrace is simply stunning. Don’t miss it. It is gorgeous during daytime, at at night. The only hiccup we had was with a front desk attendant on Monday’s evening March 23rd. Both my companion and me suffer from sleep apnea and your pillows are thin. We requested three pillows, one for each, plus another one for my friend to rest his arm since he was wearing a cast due to a broken hand. The front desk man said that every room was assigned 4 pillows. He said that he didn’t know if they had extra pillows. He did not look interested in helping us nor showing any friendliness. Very surprising to us since all your staff had been outstanding. Again, thank God to Yira on Tuesday morning since she was able to solve it asap. When we came back that night, we had at least two pillows. Never in any hotel, have I had such experience, less so from a 4 star hotel. However, I won’t let that “hiccup” ruin what was a perfect experience. Finally, yes, I would definitely come back to the same hotel, same room, and greet the same staff. This place is a hidden gem that I don’t want to many people to know about so I can continue to avoid crowd. Well done team! Team you!
