We loved the authenticity of the Palazzo and friendly, intimate atmosphere. The gardens are stunning and well looked after. Our rooms in the modern building were very simple but nice and we loved the terrace, bathroom size and views. The staff were all friendly and professional, Chiara in particular was very attentive during our stay which was appreciated. The food offering we had was quite limited but well made, fresh and tasty.

Il Palazzo Belmonte è un hotel meraviglioso. La struttura risale a tempi passati ed è davvero splendida, soprattutto il cortile interno e le camere arredate in stile antico, che sono bellissime. Nel complesso, l’atmosfera è idilliaca e molto rilassante. Il personale è cordiale e attento, e la colazione è ottima. L’unico suggerimento di miglioramento riguarda il servizio di bevande: ad esempio, non è disponibile nemmeno dell’acqua in spiaggia. Ogni volta bisogna risalire, rivestirsi e tornare all’interno anche solo per bere un bicchiere d’acqua. Inoltre, anche il cortile interno con i suoi salotti è davvero molto bello, ma manca in qualche modo un bar oppure del personale che possa servire gli ospiti direttamente lì. Per il resto, è stato un soggiorno davvero molto piacevole.

It feels less like a hotel and more like a private seaside estate, with a graceful palazzo set amid beautiful gardens that lead gently to the sea. There is an understated elegance and authenticity throughout, and a sense of calm that invites you to slow down and simply enjoy the surroundings. Second, the location could hardly be better. Set directly by the sea, yet only a short stroll from the heart of Santa Maria di Castellabate, it offers the perfect balance of tranquility and authentic Italian life. Whether you're enjoying the beach, wandering through the charming streets, or exploring the surrounding coastline, everything feels effortlessly accessible. Most of all, however, what makes Palazzo Belmonte exceptional is its people. The owners and every member of the staff embody a level of graciousness, warmth, and kindness that is increasingly rare. They don't simply provide outstanding hospitality—they make you feel genuinely welcomed, as though you are a guest in their home rather than a customer in a hotel. The reception team deserves special recognition, especially Chiara and Flavia. They were unfailingly kind, endlessly patient, and seemingly tireless in helping us make the most of our stay. Whether arranging restaurant reservations, organizing visits to a mozzarella farm and to Santomiele—a remarkable fig farm and artisanal fig boutique—finding a particularly knowledgeable guide for Paestum, or securing a boat rental so we could explore the spectacular coastline around Capo Palinuro, nothing was ever too much trouble. Every recommendation was thoughtful, and every interaction was accompanied by genuine warmth and enthusiasm. What struck me most during our stay was that the ancient Greek concept of philoxenia —the love of welcoming strangers—is not simply practiced at Palazzo Belmonte. It seems woven into the very DNA of the owners, the staff, and even the people of Santa Maria di Castellabate. One afternoon we went looking for "Baffo," the gelateria everyone had recommended. We found it, only to discover it was closed. As we turned away, I noticed an elderly gentleman with a magnificent white mustache stepping out of his car nearby. On a hunch, I asked whether he happened to be Baffo. He smiled and said that he was. When he realized we had come specifically for his gelato, he apologized that the shop was closed—and then, without hesitation, offered to open it just for us. It was such a simple gesture, yet one that perfectly captured the generosity of spirit we encountered everywhere. Palazzo Belmonte is a beautiful place to stay. It is a place that reminds you that true hospitality is a cultural inheritance. In the shadow of Paestum's temples, philoxenia is not an archaeological relic—it is a living tradition. We cannot wait to return.

Fantastic staff throughout. Couldn’t be more helpful and polite. Prepared to go above and beyond. I asked if they would place a TV in an area of the hotel so guests could watch the Formula 1 and this was immediately arranged. It was such a fun afternoon to watch it surrounded by Italians and the owners. Such wonderful people.

A lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Special mention to Andrea at the bar and to the maintenance man who helped us understand the air conditioning. A special mention to local tour operator Massaniello Tourist run by Nicola who we used for airport transfers to and from Naples as well as a boat trip, historic Cilento tour and taxi to Agropoli. He and his family are clearly passionate about promoting the region.
